If you’ve been wanting to lose weight and you’re finding that you can’t seem to get over the cravings of wanting to eat, you may be ready to throw in the towel already. One of the hardest things about going on a diet isn’t having to eat healthier, but that you may feel hungrier than usual since you are eating less.
Although you may feel hungry now, remember, this is a normal part of the adjustment that you have to make in order to lose the weight. Even though it may be difficult for the first few days, there are some tricks which can help curb your appetite to make you feel less uncomfortable.
Eat More Protein
One of the best tips for filling your stomach and lessening your cravings is to eat more protein. When your body is full of protein, it takes longer to break the food down. As opposed to when your stomach is full of carbohydrates.
Try to eat meat which is lean and not fried or processed. This way you will be filling your stomach but consuming less overall calories.
Try to keep protein on hand throughout the day if you have a busy schedule. Having things like beef jerky or hard boiled eggs at arms reach is a great way to make sure that you always have a healthy low-carb option.
Coffee is one of the best tricks for getting your stomach to stop asking you for food. Not only does coffee make you feel more full, but you will have more energy which will, in turn, cause you to move around more and burn more calories throughout the day.
If you suffer from anxiety or jitters, try drinking decaf. This way you won’t have to worry about staying up too late or not being able to get to bed.
One of the biggest tricks that your body can play on you is making you believe that you are hungry when in fact you are thirsty. Often the body thinks that it wants food, so a person will continue eating thinking they are still hungry.
However, if you try drinking a glass of water next time you’re hungry you may find that you are instantly satisfied without having to eat anything at all.
For extra appetite curbing, you can try sparkling water which will especially fill your stomach. The carbonation fills your stomach with gas bubbles and fills your stomach up.
Chewing sugar-free gum is a way of tricking your mouth into thinking that it’s eating something. The minty flavor will trick your body into thinking it’s full and will keep your taste buds busy.
