Chicago Food Blogger Bake Sale…in Pictures & Recipes

chicago bake sale

I’m still recovering from a great day that started with a 6:15 AM segment on NBC 5 about the Chicago Food Blogger Bake Sale and ended after hours of brownies, cookies, cupcakes and of course: $885.00 raised for Share Our Strength to help fight childhood hunger in the US.

Even though I used last night (and okay, most of this morning…and part of the afternoon) to catch up on the sleep I opted to forgo in lieu of baking for the past few nights, I’m still not entirely confident in my ability to form a logical, coherent thoughts.

So, here are some photos from the bake sale, (all courtesy of Allie Osmar) that sum up the afternoon nicely. The location, Smash Cake Bakery was perfect, half-dozen hardworking volunteers lent support on-site and more than fifteen bakers who helped make the day a success.

I’ve said it before, but thank you to all of the volunteers. I’ve never been a part of an event that so many people participated in because they wanted to and not because it was required. The day reminded me how much I love living in Chicago surrounded by so many awesome and talented people.

In case you missed the bake sale and are wondering what we sold, here are some of the recipes from Saturday’s sale:

Deep Chocolate Brownies with Chevre Swirl from The Pink Apron

Cherry Lime Scones from In Good Taste

Focaccia Bread with Caramelized Onions & Rosemary from To Kiss The Cook
(Recipe from In Good Taste)

Lemon Curd Cupcakes from a Homemaker’s Habitat

Almond Butter Blondies from In Good Taste

Mexican Hot Chocolate Brownies from Bridezilla Bakes

Chewy Granola Bars from In Good Taste

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Coconut Cookies from Angilio via FitSugar

Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcakes from Interior Bakerator

Marshmallow Mish Mash from Foodie Reflections
