Growing up, it was a real treat in my house if one of my parents had gotten up early on a weekend to pick up donuts or bagels for breakfast. Obviously, this was before I had any cognizance of calories or the fact that donuts would one day land firmly on the no-fun side of the list of Foods You Should Avoid Unless You Want To Buy Larger Jeans.
Which you might. Once you taste these donuts you’re not going to care about your jeans and you’re not going to want to stop eating them. Dipped in butter and cinnamon sugar these are the kind of donuts you make when you want to impress someone. When you want to say thank you. Or when you just happen to be craving something sweet.
Even though these are made in a pan specifically intended for donuts (round shape, hole in center) I know that isn’t something everyone has in their pantry. If you don’t want to shell out $11.99 for a new pan, use a muffin/cupcake tin instead. Your donuts won’t have the traditional shape but they’ll still taste every bit as delicious. The ingredients for these are ones that you probably already have in your pantry if you’ve ever baked the anyone-can-do-it Tollhouse Cookie recipe on the back of the pacakage of Nestle’s chocolate chips.
Don’t even worry about the cookies though. Just make these instead.

I have never been a big donut fan, but the cinnamon goodness on these might change my mind! What a treat!!!
In my house growing up, my dad used to go pick up donuts some weekend mornings for a special treat too. It was made even more exciting when I got to go with him and help pick out the flavors. While I’ve pretty much avoided donuts most of my adult life, these sound awfully good with their cinnamon sugar coating!
I didn’t know I could just use a muffin pan. Good plan… I’ll let you know how it goes if I give it a try!
Baked doughnuts are like…health food! Cause they’re baked, duh. I need some healthy snacks, so I will be making these today or tomorrow. Thanks!
So, I’m a little older than a twenty-something and am just learning to cook. Your website is a terrific resource for easy meals (and snacks)! Thanks! Oh, and these donuts look fabulous!
I luv that these donuts are baked instead of fried. Fantastic sugary/cinnamon goodness! =)
I’ve never tried making donuts because I thought they had to be deep-fried. I’ll have to try this recipe – they look delicious!
Yumm… homemade donuts are sooo good. Not something I’ve tried to make before, but I definitely want to!
I don’t know what’s more impressive … that you make making donuts sound easy or that they look so amazing. Either way I’m inspired.
Oooh! I can never resist cinnamon sugar – and on donuts! Bring it on!
I really need a donut pan but your idea of muffin tins sounds delicious too!
How delicious! I love Bella Cucina Artful Food. I just received their waffle cone maker in the mail this week. By the way, check out my blog for awards that I’ve handed out to you. Congrats!
I remember those days when I could eat weekend treats and never even think about it. My uncles owned a bakery in the city and would bring loads of goodies to us each weekend. Nowadays though, I have to practice more willpower than I did in the good old days. These doughnuts would be very tempting! They look delicious.
I should remember making this when I’m in trouble with my wife
wish I had one right now with my coffee!!!

I don’t have a donut pan and I guess I’ll have to order one from the states. Until then I’ll drool over your photos. Sorry.
I love fresh donuts and the best way to get them fresh is to bake them yourself like this!
Great idea using a muffin or cupcake pan too
I think you know how i feel about doughnuts. These look amazing!
These sound so heavenly, especially so when you’ve baked them instead of deep-fried!
I definitely used to LOVE it when my parents bought us bagels/donuts in the morning! Now I haven’t eaten either in….well. Years.
These donuts look delicious though! And they’re baked. Score.
New plan: I’ll eat these on the treadmill. Win!
Umm. did you know that I am obsessed with donuts. They are right there underneath by NEED for cookies! This post is being saved, printed, copied and sent to everyone I know and I can’t wait to try them! DELICIOUS!
Delish is all I have to say. These donuts look so tasty. How can anything dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar not be good?!
Yum! I love homemade donuts-I don’t have a donut pan, but I’ll try them in a muffin tin.

I love my donut pan! Those look so, so good. Mmm. Cinnamon sugar is one of those things you just can’t help but love!
Beautiful doughnuts! I remember always eating those powdered sugar doughnuts from Entenmann’s; I’m sure yours are so much tastier than those! (Sometimes I question why my parents let me eat those, haha)
You naughty girl…and here I am trying to get those last 5 pounds off! I’ve never made donuts at home, but these look very doable. I’ll save the recipe!
My hubby would freak if I showed him your donuts. Bookmarking for when I need to blackmail him!
oh my gosh, those look amazing! definitely going to be making those…
My university are doing free coffee and doughnuts outside the library every day until exams are over. Jeans sizes are out the window, so I think I’ll make these and help myself to two…or ten…
Oh gosh, these doughnuts look and sound fantastic. My roommate actually just mentioned last night that she really wants to make cinnamon sugar doughnuts, so I’m sure I’ll be posting something similar soon!
Oh my goodness these look so good. TOO good. It’s actually happening now, in my household. When my husband wakes up early, he goes to donuts run. Kids and I are so excited to eat donuts and I make coffee. Such a happy treat on weekends.
Your homemade ones look much better. But well I don’t really bake normally and it will probably end with disaster so I just enjoy looking at your gorgeous donuts.
Baked doughnuts! Yes! More like a muffin…eat extra.
Ooh I love this, cinnamon sugar are my favorite kind!
Yum, these look delicious!
These look perfect! I looove cinnamon-sugar!
I know what you mean about special donut mornings. Sometimes my parents would buy Entenmann’s donuts and they were sooo good. I almost bought some not too long ago, but then I looked at the ingredients and quickly changed my mind! Yours look great!
I made 40 of these doughnuts for a family get togeth of 12 people. They were all gone and they begged for more! AMAZING!
I love cinnamon sugar donuts! I modified these to make muffin and mini-muffins, to be more travel friendly:
