Last week I posted a guest post from my mother that featured a really awesome cheesecake recipe as well as some memories of her late brother, who I unfortunately never had the chance to meet. Because she was so grateful for and touched by your comments, she insisted that we thank you with a giveaway. I was happy to oblige her since I, too, love reading your comments and thoughts on my posts each and every day (plus, you have to listen to your mom, right?).
With gratitude in mind we decided that the giveaway needed to be fun. Festive. Cake pops are fun. Cake pops are festive. So while I have some great giveaways coming up for you with the rest of the Ten First Kitchen Commandments series, this is a special treat.
We are giving you a treat that will let you make treats. We’re giving one reader a Babycakes Cake Pop Maker to help you bring the cake pops trend into your own kitchen. The method is slightly different than the original recipes found around the internet, but there is no denying that they’re equally adorable. And delicious.
Not only does this particular cake pop maker let you bake a dozen cake pops at at a time, but you can make donut holes, which could never be a bad thing. The cake pop maker reminds me of the miniature George Foreman grill I had in college – easy to use, small enough to store and equipped with power and ready lights, a wrap cord and a latching handle.
Giveaway: One reader will be selected using random.org to receive one Babycakes Cake Pop Maker (pictured above, ARV: $25). The cake pop maker comes complete with all the accessories you need to bake and decorate cake pops or donut holes, including a supply of cake pop sticks.
The Rules:
- Leave a comment here that answers the following questions: what is one [or more than one!] recipe or cooking technique you’d love to see written here on In Good Taste?
- Anonymous commenters: leave your email address in the comment field so I can reach you.
- Contest will close on Friday, July 1 at 11:59PM CST. 1 winner will be chosen by random.org and notified by email before Monday, July 4 (Happy Independence Day!). Winner will have until Wednesday, July 6 at 11:59PM CST to respond and then I will choose a new winner.
- Contest open to US Residents only (but we still welcome comments from friends across the pond!).
For Additional Entries:
- Follow me on Twitter (@MarisCallahan) and tweet the following message: I just entered to win a #babycakes cake pop maker from @mariscallahan at In Good Taste: http://bit.ly/ihUgq4. #baking #giveaway
- Become a fan of In Good Taste on Facebook.
- Suggest that your friends become a fan of In Good Taste on Facebook.
- Please leave one comment for each entry.
Disclosure: This giveaway is not sponsored by Babycakes. Giveaway is being provided by my mother (Daryl Callahan) and I have no affiliation with the Babycakes brand.

I love this!
I can always use more tips/recipes on dishes that freeze/keep well – perfect for busy weeknights!
I Tweeted the giveaway @kay819
I’m a fan on Facebook
I would love to see some how-to’s on canning!
I’d love to see more recipes with bananas!
Though I am partial to them….
I follow of course, and tweeted!
Definitely a fan of IGT on FB!
I’d love to see more casserole recipes- Rob and I love to make these for work-night dinners because they’re fast and we have leftovers for the next day’s lunch. One of us is usually wrangling the baby while the other is furiously cooking dinner in the kitchen… But I’d also love to see homemade pizza recipes! I’m dying to get a stone and start on my own homemade dough. I’d love to make my own Hawaiian pizza!
I’m a fan on Facebook
AND I just sent out lots of suggestions to friends. You better believe that the second you were on Pioneer I sent the link to about 20 people. So proud of you, lady!
I’d love to see more recipes for vegetables. I really like the recipes you feature here and I’d like to see how you handle vegetables. Have a great day. Blessings…Mary
Have some great veggie recipes coming up! Thanks for being such a dedicated reader!

Awesome giveaway! I already follow on twitter.
And I’m a fan on FB!
Yum, I LOVE cake pops! So much fun!
Funny that Taylor mentioned canning, because I was going to say the same thing! A friend of mine has been doing it lately, and now I want to try too!
I’m a fan of yours on facebook!
I would love suggestions on wine pairings. Fingerfood apps & desserts specifically. Love your site, Maris!!
So glad you like the wine pairings! I love any excuse to make finger foods and drink wine
I just tweeted too! (@lexilooo)
I also already like you on facebook.
Oh, and fan on facebook, of course!
These are SO cute! I am always making treats for my fellow group fitness instructors and I know they would LOVE these! In terms of the question:
what is one [or more than one!] recipe or cooking technique you’d love to see written here on In Good Taste? I’d love to see how you entertain! What are your menus like and can you give us some sample menus?
I’d like to see some recipes for slow cookers! Those are great for cold nights when you are working all day and just want to eat as soon as you get home. I also second the request for canning! In particular, I’d love to can my own salsa and peaches. xoxo
I would love to see a really good carrot cake recipe.
Lisa, here is one I posted a few years ago:

I also just “liked” you on Facebook!!!!
Ahh! This giveaway makes me so excited, not only because I love cake pops (which I do), but because my sister just gave me Bakerella’s cake pops book for my birthday and this would be the icing on the cake (haaa, pun intended).
I’d love to see budget-friendly suggestions for those of us who are pinching pennies when we go to the grocery store. There are certain ingredients or items I can only afford in my dreams!
I’m already following on Twitter, and just tweeted about the contest.
I’d love recipes that I can make in large batches and freeze
also recipes that can be made and given as gifts are always great!
Already a Facebook fan!
I follow you on Twitter (@orlndofoodie) and am sending the tweet now!
Hi Maris! You are so generous! I’ll be joining your giveaway entry. What I want to see here. I want to know how to make meringue properly and also icing for cupcakes…. hopefully detail enough for beginners. Most baker’s recipes are very simple and I don’t even know what I’m doing is correct….so that would be nice. Your lemon cake pops look so cute and delicious. Kids will go crazy for these for sure!
I really can’t believe I wasn’t a fan of your facebook page. It happens when I click too many fan pages and ended up not being able to follow… email subscription has been helpful.
I tweeted!
I’m always a fan of new quick and easy recipes!
I am a fan on fb. I would luv for u post a recipe on how to make home-made alfredo sauce. I hope I this soo. I can back w/ my kids:)
I am a fan on fb 2. I would luv for u to post a recipe for homemade alfredo suavel..
ahhh how adorable~!!!! i never knew this even existed! wow. i seriously thought people rolled each cake pop by hand! haha.
just liked u on facebook!
What a sweet giveway! I would love to see recipes with double duty – make one meal and then use leftovers for another recipe. I am horrible at planning ahead! I love when I see Cooking for Two posts, too.
I would love to see a post on canning and recipes, like jams and jellies or salsas and marinades.
I am a die-hard fan of this blog. I made the cheesecake this weekend for Glenn. . .I knew him.
I follow you and tweeted!
I feel like you can never have too many quick and easy weeknight meals!
I’m a fan on Facebook.
Oops, I forgot to post a recipe that I would like to see here. I think I would like to see a low fat, heart healthy chocolate cake. After all, with all these great recipes for amazing cakes, we need something healthy!
I’d like to see healthy slow cooker recipes. There are a ton of slow cooker recipes out there, but it seems like most of them aren’t very health conscious. Using a crock-pot has so many benefits because you can put all the ingredients inside before you go to work and have a meal waiting for you at the end of the day.
I loved your wine pairing post! I want more, it was so helpful!
Would like to see more bite size dessert recipes.
I tweeted some love for you
I have always wanted to make a madeleine cookie so I would love to see that!
I already follow you and I just tweeted: http://twitter.com/#!/TheLittleKitchn/status/85451144402436096
I already like your blog on facebook
Thanks!
I’d love to see some crockpot recipes that are more than just a hunk of meat in some liquid. Something different to have cooking away while I’m at work!
I liked the above suggestions for madeliene cookies and canning procedures…but I’d also like to see macaroons!

I had no idea there was such thing as a cake pop maker. Makes the process so much easier, I love it! I think this would be a great addition to my kitchen.
I’ll definitely get on the Twitter/Facebook action.
I would like to see a great Tres Leche recipe!
I’m a fan of IGT on facebook:)
I love all the recipes you feature here. Would love to see more recipes on some of your favorite products and techniques you use when cooking.

I also follow you on facebook!
I love your blog so I say keep doing what you’re doing. I’m always game for more pasta recipes or grilling ideas. If I win a purple cake pop maker, I don’t think my wife would let me live it down, so if I get chosen I’ll donate my prize to Caroline. (If allowed.) But I would still make a super long acceptance comment!
oooh how fun! i love cake balls/pops!
as for the tip i’d like to see, how do you get the chocolate on cake pops without making a huge mess? haha. or cake balls i should say, i’ve made cake balls and the chocolate is always a very messy process? any tips to make it less messy?
Well, I make a mess every time so I don’t know that I’m the one to give advice on that
BUT I will see what I can do!
I have limited drink making experience, so I love seeing your cocktail recipes! Keep them coming.
I don’t think I would find a cake pop maker useful UNLESS I could find skewers long enough to skewer all twelve of the li’l guys onto a tasty branch of goodness just for myself. Then, yum. Useful.
I gave away a grotty old doughnut maker from Goodwill to someone as a joke Christmas gift. I bet she could be working on making her first million now:)
Anything chocolate will get my attention
What a sweet thing for you and your mom to do!
What a neat gadget ! I’m too far away for the contest but it’s a wonderful prize. Good luck to all the entries.
When I visit your blog I think about your mother and her wonderful brother.
I’m always looking for recipes or instructions on what to do with proteins. I get anxious when cooking meat for some reason. I’m a super confident baker, but the thought of making a roast paralyzes me. Maybe you’re a vegetarian and you hate this idea? If so, ignore.
I love all your recipes – thanks for hosting a cute giveaway.
I *almost* bought this cake maker from them last week. I have been coveting it, big time!!!
I’d love to see dessert recipes. I mean, they always rock.

Oohh love the giveaway! I’d love to see more posts for cooking for 1-2 people!
Your mom’s entry about her brother was so beautiful – it was a pleasure to read it. I need to remember to lead the kind of life that will lead to a remembrance like that. It is super sweet of your mom to offer this giveaway after sharing such a touching post. As to the cake pop maker, I am intrigued by the donut hole option. I have seen several catalogs offering different products in which one can bake donuts. I would love it if you could come up with a baked donut – or donut hole recipe- that doesn’t taste “diet”.
And much, much later than my earlier comments, suggested that my Facebook friends like In Good Taste on FB!
more dessert recipes! especially brownies!
How about healthy brown bag lunches? Thanks (to you and your mom) for the giveaway.
I had no idea they have a cake pop maker…. these look so cute
Thanks for hosting such a fun giveaway!

these look delicious! Id love to see more quick/low ingredient (like 5 ingredients or less or something like that) recipes!
Wine pairings!! I know technically it’s OK to drink wine with what you’d like (or so I’ve heard), but if there are suggestions for vegetarians (like myself) on wine pairings, that would be awesome!

I would love to see a technique for making gnocchi!!
What a brilliant little contraption!
I would love to see more creative avocado recipes like the one you just posted making a pasta sauce. Avocados are a great source of healthy fat and there are probably so many more things their delicious creamy texture could be put to use for that we haven’t thought of… like the pasta dish for one!
Another thing I would always love to see more of is anything and everything chocolate. I am a self-proclaimed choco-holic so I could never get enough of it. And this is post number 2 because I just liked your page on facebook! Don’t know why it’s taken me this long
Just thought of another thing I would love to see here- a mango salsa! It’s mango season in Florida and my boyfriend’s tree is raining so many mango’s we don’t know what to do with all of it! I’ve been wanting to make a good mango salsa but need some inspiration. If I win the cake pop maker maybe I will figure out a way to make some mango cake pops!

Okay, now I am in love. Didn’t even know there was such a thing! I must have this now! I would love to hear you talk more about cooking with plantains. I think they are super yummy and i don’t really cook with them that much but would love some ideas.
Oh and i follow you on twitter and like you on fb
OHMYGOSH! I think this just might be one of the best giveaways ever. I am obsessed with cake pops and usually make them by hand. Now if I win this I can make them all the time and eat cake pops for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
One thing I’d like to see you write about is how you get your recipe ideas. I did a post about my inspiration a while ago and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Plus, I love it when bloggers get a little more personal.
