Perfect Party Cocktail: Pomegranate Martini

Whenever I look at a cocktail menu on a bar, a Cosmopolitan is undoubtedly on the menu. Now, I have nothing against the Cosmpolitan but at the risk of sounding, oh, I don’t know, snobby, aren’t Cosmopolitans a little bit…you know, 2004?

While pomegranate juice isn’t exactly new to the block, it has a refreshing tartness that a lot of cocktails lack. Pomegranate juice can often be costly, but PAMA Pomegranate liqueur offers the same tartness and a touch of triple sec goes a long way in balancing a not-to-sweet flavor in your beverage.

With my recently acquired martini shaker I made a couple of quick batches of this martini, which I think would be perfect for any holiday party, dinner or get-together.

Pomegranate Martini
Serves 2

Ingredients:

1/2 cup PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
3 ounces (2 1.5-ounce shot glasses) premium vodka
1/2 oz. Orange Flavored Liqueur (such as Triple Sec)

How-To:

Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon zest.

This would be perfect for a holiday party. Maybe I’ll have to bring this to our annual New Year’s celebration.

Yum! This is my dad’s favorite drink, too. It’s fun to put pomegranate seeds in for garnish, too :) Love the color!!

Thanks so much for a very holiday appropriate recipe. Makes me want to throw a party just so I can serve a cool martini like this. (I also have a set of very cool holiday-ish martini glasses I want to use.)

I agree, Cosmos are so 2004! LOL. I was never a huge cosmo fan, but I would love this pomegranate martini! Looks so festive and pretty!

Try this with citrus flavored vodka minus the triple sec. I use Grapefruit flavored Absolut!

I bought that PAMA a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Now I’ve been thinking I really ought to infuse my own alcohols. I have a pomegranate in my refrigerator as well as some cranberries in my freezer, maybe some pom-cran version?

I’m way more of a fan of the flavor of pomegranate than I am of cranberry, anyway! Love this!

Hey Maris,

Hope you had a happy holiday, it’s been too long since I visited these parts. This cocktail sounds delightful, I just adore Pama. A splash in my champagne is a nice treat.

Hope you’re well.
