For awhile, I’ve been meaning to share with you my college friend’s start-up, Rebel Gummies. Jillian Stokes and her partner Carl Ziznewski have created a company that makes hand-crafted, totally customizable, alcohol-infused gummies candy.
This weekend, I saw a post on Jill’s Facebook page that finally put an end to my procrastination.
On August 4, Tyson Snader, one of Jill’s good friends and a fellow alum of our college, was involved in an accident that injured his spinal cord. He faces months of surgeries, rehabilitation and is expected to remain paralyzed from the chest down. Though I didn’t know him personally, I went to an extremely small university where you pretty much knew everyone by name, even if you weren’t personally acquainted. Tyson is a lifelong athlete, manager of the CSA for Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative and newly married with a young child. His family and friends have launched an online fundraiser to support his recovery and help pay some of his medical bills.
What does this have to do with boozy gummies? Rebel Gummies is donating 50% of all all profits to support Tyson and the entire Snader family during an unimaginable time. You can donate directly to Tyson’s fund at YouCaring or you can support a small business and a meaningful cause at the same time.
Rebel Gummies combines molecular gastronomy with mixology, creating new combinations like “black betty” – blackberry and vodka, “lime margarita” and “tropic thunder” – banana, strawberry and Malibu coconut rum. You can personalize the shape, flavor and even packaging of your gummies for special occasions, from bachelorette parties and wedding showers to holiday parties and special occasions.
